"I once built a 200 page website really badly using every mistake I could think of because I needed to know
The Best Way To Fail at Web DesignIt peaked at 29 visitors a month over an 18 month trial and averaged 1 visitor every 2 days."
It's not enough to have words on a page. You need to understand where to put them and how they should be used.
Correct Keyword positioning within your page markup is vital if you want the important Search Engines to recognise the significance of your word choice
I've used "Keyword Placement" within the Page Title and "Keyword Markup" within a page heading to demonstrate to you and the Search Engines that this page is about the position of keywords within a web page.
Page Title - Use Your Most Important Keywords
Try and make a page title of about 60 Characters by combining your keywords into a Logical Key Phrase that best describes the content of your web page.
You want your page title to be precise.
After all, the aim is not to trick web searchers into visiting your site.
IF you only attract a handful of qualified leads and they completely "get" your website then isn't that a better option than thousands of visitors having no interest in your real message?
Page Description - Key Sentence
Your page description should contain a keyword rich sentence that describes your web page in slightly more detail and differently to your page title.
Visitors will read this and decide if your site matches their specific search criteria before clicking through to your website.
If you're message is clear, they are just a little more likely to visit you.
Page Headings - Content Optimisation of Key Words and Phrases
Use variations of your keywords and phrases within the page heading tags to make it clear to visitors and search engines how your web's pages are sub-divided into logical sections.
Headings should be relevant and NOT just repeat the same phrase over and over in the vain hope that a particular phrase will seem more important
It's best to use natural language that reads correctly rather than keyword shuffling to fit in just one more combination.
If you've followed onto this page from keyword optimisation then you remember I touched upon Latent Semantic Indexing.
Latent Semantic Indexing relates to how words are constructed into natural phrases and sentences AND more significantly LSI is a semi-intelligent comparison system that looks for additional supporting words and phrases you would expect to find associated with your keyword and check to find if they are used within the same sentence, paragraph, section or page.
By using natural descriptive language to create your web content you are almost guaranteed to creative semantically rich text to support and enhance your keywords and phrases.
